 Product Label Information

  • Do not use product when abdominal pain, nausea or vomiting are present unless directed by a doctor.
  • If you notice a sudden change in bowel habits that persists over a period of 2 weeks, consult a doctor before using a laxative.
  • Rectal bleeding or failure to have a bowel movement after use of a laxative may indicate a serious condition. Discontinue use and consult a physician.
  • Laxatives should not be used for a period longer than one week unless directed by a Doctor.
  • Pregnant or nursing women should seek the advice of a healthcare professional before using this product.
  • In case of accidental overdose, seek professional assistance or contact a poison control center immediately.
  • Do not take if you are presently taking a stool softener laxative.
  • Do not administer to children under 6 years of age, to pregnant or nursing women, or to patients who are bedridden.
  • Do not take while lying down.
  • Keep out of reach of children.

  • Mineral oil is not to be taken repeatedly for a long period of time 26.
  • (Mineral Oil) may be absorbed systemically and cause a foreign body reaction in lymphoid tissue 3.
  • Gradual build up in body tissues may create additional problems and may interfere with the absorption of certain food nutrients and (fat soluble) vitamins A, D, E and K.
  • Not used during pregnancy because it may interfere with the mother?s absorption of nutrients and vitamins and may cause severe bleeding in a newborn infant.
  • A form of pneumonia may be caused by the inhalation of droplets into the lungs.
  • Large doses may cause some leakage from the rectum.
  • Mineral Oil Enemas: Children and elderly persons are more sensitive to the effects of enemas.
  • Ensure that the contents of the bowel are expelled after administration 10.

  • Do not take if pregnant or nursing.
  • Not recommended for infants under 6 months of age.
  • Do not take lying down or reclining to prevent possible aspiration of the mineral oil when taken orally.
  • Mineral oil may interact with drugs that prevent blood clots (anticoagulants), causing undesired side effects 19.
  • Do not take within 2 hours of a stool softener; it may increase the amount of mineral oil absorbed 1.
  • Contraindicated when dysphagia exists.
  • Concurrent use of mineral oil with a stool softener (can) result in the formation of tumor-like deposits in tissues 26.
  • Also, drug interactions with: contraceptives, digitalis glycosides, fat soluble vitamins.
  • Enema: Do not administer to children under 2 years of age except on the advice of a physician.
  • Do not take within 2 hours of meals because of possible interference with food digestion and absorption of nutrients and vitamins.
